ABOUT ME

Hey there! How are you doing?

So you’re here, on my website having a little look. Nice one, thanks for dropping by!

It’s always a little awkward talking about yourself; especially to strangers on the internet. So I’ll do my best to keep it short, and keep it real.

So here goes…

I’m an actor. I trained at NIDA (National Institute of Dramatic Art) in Sydney, Australia. Which would explain the very serious looking headshot over to the right (or below if you're looking at this on your phone).

Don’t worry, I didn’t give myself a hernia posing for that one.

As an actor, I’ve had some amazing opportunities to work in film, on TV, and in the theatre. You may have seen me pop up on your screen in films like The Illusionist with Edward Norton and Baz Luhrmann’s Australia. Or perhaps you’ve seen me on TV in shows like the award winning production The Road From Coorain, and more recently on Pulse for ABC with the lovely and talented Claire van der Boom. I’ve also done quite a few ads of late, so I won’t be offended if you say:

“Are you the guy in the bright orange budgie smugglers on the Hotels Combined ad?”

I was in Los Angeles recently, and I bumped into this very nice film studio executive in an Uber Pool, and I told him about some of the other stuff I do, and he said that I’m "a multi hyphenate creative”.

“Whoah, what the hell is that?” I hear you say.

Well, apparently, being " a multi hyphenate creative" is a really nice way of saying, I’m one of those awful people who have done lots of other creative things in their lives, which ends up confusing my marketing team, who like things to fit in neat little boxes.

Gotta have your brand clear; stay on message; right?

Ah, life is way too short for that kind of malarkey!

So, in addition to banging away at being an actor, I sing, play music, write, direct, teach and make an excellent melted cheese sandwich: which has given me the great pleasure of getting to do some epically cool things including:

Playing alongside bands like Tool, Ozzy Osbourne, and Slayer in front of 20,000 people on OzzFest  in Europe, recording an album with the infamous Jaz Coleman of Killing Joke, Grammy Award winning producer Hugo Nicolson, and the celebrated Prague Philharmonic Orchestra. Travelling to the Carpathians in Romania to take part in an international theatre festival for UNESCO, and working on the acclaimed Pinchgut Opera productions of Vivaldi’s Juditha Triumphans and L'anima del Filosofo.

And right now…I’m getting really busy writing, directing, and acting in a whole bunch of new projects that I’m making with an awesome team of young Australian filmmakers. You can get a little taste of what we've made so far over at www.seanlutherhall.com/careerlimitingmoves
